David Atkinson

Assistant Professor of Instruction, UT-Austin

David Atkinson is a lecturer in the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. Within the Department of Business, Government & Society, he teaches undergraduate classes on law, ethics, and artificial intelligence and undergraduate and graduate courses on the legal environment of business.

Atkinson served on active duty as a paratrooper before attending graduate school and law school. He has worked as a technology scout for the U.S. Army, searching for hardware and software to help improve military readiness. He has also been a lawyer for a range of technology companies, including the education technology company PowerSchool, the autonomous trucking company TuSimple, and most recently, the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence.

Atkinson holds a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, a master’s degree in education policy and management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a master’s degree in adult and continuing education from Kansas State University, and a B.S. in exercise science from Truman State University.
